Central Neighborhood Planning Council – NPC3 Trinity Neighborhood Center 10 W. Bidwell St. Battle Creek, MI 49015 Minutes of May 9, 2024 CALL TO ORDER/TIME CONVENED: 7 PM ATTENDANCE: Members: Tim Conlogue, Robert Kist, Cynde Foster, Tim Cole, Pastor Janet Wilson, Carla Berner Excused: Gloria Mansfield, Al Berner, Elisha Hodge Mayes, Bryan Mayes, Cari Briggs Absent: Eva Huddleston, Michelle Tyler,Jerry Dill, Penny Dill City Staff: Duska Brumm (Parks&Rec), Commissioner Sofia, BCPD Officer Dilling (dropped off reports and left) Guest: Quinton from Land Bank ADDITION OR DELETIONS TO THE AGENDA: Land Bank information APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: No quorum to approve March or April 2024 minutes CITY STAFF REPORTS: Police Department: reports were handed out that Officer Dilling dropped off Code Reports: None (code person absent) COMMITTEE REPORTS: • Commissioner Report: Reported that the May 9th meeting was canceled due to severe weather; will be held on May 14th instead. On the agenda is a hearing on the City Budget. Public Talks At each Fire Station are being held. City Attorney Steele is retiring at the end of July. • Schools: Battle Creek District & Lakeview District: None • Membership Need to remove Eva Huddleston and Michelle Tyler as they both no longer live in Battle Creek. • Beautiful Battle Creek Award (Residential and/or Business): R: 417 S. Washington ( no quorum) • Business Report: None • Networking Committee: Tim Cole asked for invoice for our new NPC3 Meeting signs to put in our yards just before the Meetings of 2 nd Thursday of the month associated with The Grant he received from Battle Creek Community Foundation of $350OLD BUSINESS TO BE FINALIZED: None OLD BUSINESS TO BE FINALIZED: None NEW BUSINESS: None NEW BUSINESS FOR FUTURE MEETINGS: None SPEAKER: Duska Brumm from Parks & Rec brought with her the Master Plan from the surveys done earlier in the Year. The Master Plan is done every 5 years to be able to apply for Any Grants. Some comments on the survey told of goals and objectives, increase in physical activity of residents in our City, take care of what parks and equipment we have instead Of building new, and have more Police presence near all City parks. Updates in Bailey Park. Parks in our NPC3 are McCrea, Prospect, and Meachum. Land Bank: Quinton passed out pamphlets of the upcoming Senior Expo on May 23, 2024, from 9 am-1 pm at Kellogg Arena, Property Tax Foreclosure, Calhoun Builders Connection Monthly Networking Events on the 4th Friday of the month at 8 am at Torti Taco Bar & Grill - 80 W. Michigan Ave., suite C, D, E Battle Creek, MI PUBLIC/GUEST COMMENTS: None MEMBERS COMMENTS: Pastor Janet Wilson mentioned a “Community Dinner” on May 15, 2024, at Trinity Neighborhood Center for members of the Groups that meet there.
