His enforcement focus are on Cherry/Elm (drug traffic stops) and Calhoun/Harvard ( mail larcenies). The snow emergency was an opportunity to clear chronically parked cars from the streets. The percentage of service calls in our npc, the Beckley Rd corridor and the Washington Heights area are around 13% each. Communication with police besides 911 are the non emergency number and silent observer. Outreach liaison Kelly Dillman: Byrne grant assessment report is due. Potential projects are being solicited. Next door app is another source to report problems. Npc leadership orientation 2.26. Chief Jim Blocker: App available to report potholes. Gave handout and discussed the police dept reason for wanting a drone. Quicker to implement and cost less than helicopter. Example of use; car in river could have been located sooner if drone were available at the time. Minutes for Jan. approved. Pastor Tom from First Congregational church informed us that in the future we will have the npc meet in a room upstairs on the right. Code compliance Todd Nowicki: Property surveys of npc3 scheduled for this spring. Paint program available again. Mattress bags available from the city. Chuck related the problem of garbage spillovers into the street by Waste Management. Sarah learned boxes don't have to be broken down to be recycled. Beautiful Battle Creek: David nominated TM Hughes/ Perry Mortuary, 140 Capital Ave NE for demolishing vacant house next door. Mary Lusk nominated 54 Rose St. Membership: Lea Dodd and Kelly Dillman were approved for membership consideration. JP read a report from County Commissioner Jake Smith. Battle Creek Public Schools Shandra Youngblood, Christian Manley; Talked about some of the KF 51 million grant over 5 years going toward band uniforms, visual arts and music programs. BCPS operating millage renewal proposal up for a vote May 8. Sarah asked about enrollment. Added kindergartens at Dudley and LaMora. Kim was happy that Fremont and Urbandale are off the market. Comments; Leah gave a report what's new at Willard. Crochet group formed, good yarns. Digital resource hoopla. Author Tim Tingle will give a talk 3.22 at 6:30 Willard meeting room. Author Victoria Murry 3.13 at 7 in the Binder Arts Center at KCC. Librarians will work through tech problems one on one. All BCPS students had the opportunity to get library cards. Meeting room conversion is continuing. Barb Parsons gave a report and handout about the citizen police academy 3.7 to 5.16 every Wed 6-9, one Sat 9-3. Learn everything that involves the police dept.
