NORTHEAST PLANNING COUNCIL #4 (Fermont/Verona/McKinley) MEETING MINUTES January 17, 2024 First Congregational Church, 342 NE Capital Ave Members: Boonika Herring, Mary Conklin, Robert Konkright, David Salerno, Roger Koning, Mary Lusk, JP Wilson, Sherry Sofia Guests: Khyruin Herring, Craig Long, Bryan Gandy, Vanessa Hernandez Code: Bryan discussed the handout of the code compliance and inspection issues, highlighting the garbage containers left out too early or too late. JP complained of leaves plugging the storm sewer drains that could be prevented by more timely street sweeping. BCPD: Craig handed out the December crime report. Commented on the N Wabash homicide, how porch and intersection cameras tracked the shooter's car, larceny from vehicles due to the holiday shopping, Kia and Dodge keyless car thefts, and the courts being too lenient with offenders. Commission: Sherry recommended the Helen Guzzo workshop on Community Development presented to the commission on 1.16.24. Reduced bus service due to driver shortage continues. Handed out pamphlets about upcoming elections, early voting available. Minutes: Sept, Oct, Nov minutes approved Election: Boonika Herring chair, JP Wilson vice chair, Dave Salerno note taker. Voting was unanimous. Patrick O'Donnell explained the KCC board has a meeting on the third Wednesday of the month. Came late but was able to talk with members at the end of the meeting. Comments: Mary Conklin finds the meeting interesting and informative. Robert voiced appreciation for JP's chairmanship, Khyruin is interested in membership, Mary Lusk thanked JP, congratulated Boonika, First Presbyterian Church hosting Taco Tuesday for high schoolers 3-6, Craig suggested the Emmett St Missionary Church as a possible meeting site.
