Bidwell St Battle Creek, MI 49015 Minutes of January 11, 2024 CALL TO ORDER / TIME CONVENED: 7pm ATTENDANCE: Members: Robert Kist, Cynde Foster, Gloria Mansfield, Carla Berner, Al Berner, Pastor Janet Wilson, Tim Cole Excused: Cari Briggs, Trudy Hall, Michelle Tyler, Eva Huddleston, Elisha Hodge, Bryan Mayes Absent: Jerry Dill, Penny Dill, Jack Montongue City Staff: Patrick Cleland-BCFD Chief Beatty – BCFD Officer Downey – BCPD COPS Kim Brown – Code Helen Guzo – Community Development Guests: Rep. Jim Haadsma ADDITION OR DELETIONS TO THE AGENDA: None APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Motion by Pastor Janet 2 nd by Gloria Mansfield to approve the Minutes of November 9, 2023 CARRIED CITY STAFF REPORTS: Police Department: Officer Downey handed out Reports. It included BE’s, vehicle thefts, arrests and drug arrests, traffic stops Code Reports: Kim handed out the code reports and asked if any problems. Committee Reports: Commissioner Report: None Schools: Battle Creek Public and Lakeview Public: None Membership (new additions/or deletions): None Beautiful Battle Creek Awards (Residential/or Business): R-354 W. Burnham B-696 SW Capital - Body Bronze Business Report: Plumeria at 660 SW Capital (old lakeview hardware) getting closer to opening. OLD BUSINESS TO BE FINALIZED: None NEW BUSINESS: None NEW BUSINESS FOR FUTURE MEETINGS: Pastor Janet said she would have information too share. SPEAKER: We had two. Patrick Cleland BCFD told us of a 2 year grant program for 500 Smoke Detectors (sealed battery), 100 Hard of Hearing Smoke Detectors, 250 Carbon Monoxide Detectors. These will be placed in HOME OWNER Properties (no rentals) They need 12 to 15 volunteers to place in the homes along side a Fire Department personnel on May 4 th & 11 th from 9am-Noon. The volunteer meets at 8:30am at the Fire Station 4 . There will be 3 Smoke Detectors per home; 1 Carbon Monoxide detector (placed on main level of living spaceclose to the floor). They will be sending to the NPC Officers (by email) a Flyer to print up and hand out so Home Owners can sign up. Helen Guzo – Community Development Department handed out a pamphlet that describes vital programs available to residents of the City. The Programs inside are Minor Home Repairs and Lead Safety Programs, Program Requirements, Income limits & number of people in the home. Any Questions call 269-966-3315. PUBLIC/GUEST COMMENTS: Rep. Haadsma gave us a report on what is going on in the State.
