NORTHEAST PLANNING COUNCIL #4 (Fermont/Verona/McKinley) MEETING MINUTES May 15, 2024 First Congregational Church, 342 NE Capital Ave DRAFT Meeting Date: 5.15.24 7 pm Members: JP Wilson, Dave Morgan, David Salerno, Mary Conklin Guests: Craig Long, Bryan Gandy Code: Bryan handed out compliance and inspection issues for March and April. Reported the paint program has started up again. BCPD: Craig handed out the April crime report. JP reported he cut short walking the dog after hearing gunshots in the neighborhood. Complained of window pane rattling music. The $5 ticket for this offense is not much of a deterrent. Craig responded he would prioritize his time more with responding to gunshots than loud music. Said he was unsure how the closing of the Battle Creek Shelter would affect crime. Code: Bryan handed out the compliance and inspection issues from April - May. A little less than half were pertaining to tall weeds. JP suggested using persuasion before ticketing. Bryan said a form letter is sent out to the resident explaining the issue which at times is corrected before they get the letter. Comments: Boonika sent a text reminding me about the city-wide Spring clean up next week. JP wondered who was supposed to e-mail the minutes to members before the NPC meeting. Mary said, Vanessa.
