Council Minutes – January 9, 2012
Meeting at
Christ United Methodist Church

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:01 PM by Robert Whitfield, chair.
Attendance: Robert Whitfield, Chair; Dale Stratton; Nate Zanotti; Mason Mayo; Sara
Schmanske; Rebecca Runyon; Walt McIlroy; Officer Adam Pembrook; Carl Brockman;
David Moore; Stan Beckwith; Joe Britvec; Barbara Beckwith; Mary Lou Ramon; Deborah
Owens; Fred Bachman; Elizabeth Fulton – Vice Mayor; Ron Auton; Dennis McKinley
A moment of Silence was observed for Elaine Norby.
Previous Minutes: The minutes from December 12, 2011 were approved by a voice vote.
Correspondence: January 11, 2012 7 p.m. to discuss funding for the CDAC
Police Report: Officer Adam Pembrook was present for Q & A.
Guest Speaker: Rod Auton from Centra-Care. Centra-Care’s purpose is to provide support to
older adults and their care-givers so they can live out the remainder of their life at home. The
program is centered at Burnham Brook. They provide a full range of programs. The services
they offer are funded by Medicare and Medicare part D.
Commissioner’s Report: The zoning change was approved for Joy Brown. Encouragement
was made to attend the meeting on January 11, 2012 for the CDAC.
School Report: None
Code Report: Dennis McKinley 966-3387 – written report
Membership: Excused absence for Deborah Gregory
Beautiful Battle Creek Award: The Beautiful Battle Creek award went to 217 Woodlawn
reported by Dale Stratton.
Old Business: Reviewed timeline for membership of Deborah Gregory - in January 2010 old
business. Carl Brockman will call to follow-up with city.
New Business:
Guest speaker for February will be Brenda Hunt – Battle Creek Community Foundation
