Council Minutes – May 13, 2013
Meeting at Christ United Methodist Church
65 North Bedford Road
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:01 PM by Robert Whitfield, chair.
Attendance: Robert Whitfield, Chair; Dale Stratton; Nate Zanotti; David Moore; Fred
Bachman; Sara Schmanske; Walt McIlroy; Deborah Gregory; Joshua Fausey; Joe Britvec; Carl
Brockman: Dennis McKinley: Officer Shawn O’Bryant
Previous Minutes: April 2013 minutes were approved by voice vote.
Correspondence: N/A
Police Report: Written report was distributed. Officer Shaw O’Bryant reviewed procedure for
reporting crimes and recent activities within the Urbandale area. She will be attending
meetings until September 2013. She noted the following phone numbers for reference:

Commissioner’s Report: N/A
School Report: Deborah Gregory reviewed the positive results for the millage election of 2
mills for Battle Creek Public Schools as well as the upcoming School Board meeting on May
20, 2013.
Code Report: Dennis McKinley distributed a written code report and fielded questions by the
group.
Membership: Stan Beckwith, Barbara Beckwith and Rebecca Runyon had excused absences.
Beautiful Battle Creek Award: The award went to 70 Kellogg as reported by Dale Stratton.
Old Business: N/A
New Business: Carl Brockman will be bringing the speaker for the June meeting.
Public Comment: Walt McIlroy expressed the need for volunteers for planting flowers in
anticipation for the parade on June 22, 2013.
Nominating Committee: N/A
Adjournment: Chair Whitfield adjourned the meeting at 7:52 PM
