Rural Southwest Neighborhood Planning Council Southside Bible Church – corner of S. Minges & Beckley Rd. Minutes of the May 14, 2013 Meeting Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by Linda Morris. Members Present: Linda Morris, Sally Wytko, Harry Zimmerman Citizens Present: Susan Cooley, Cindy Snyder, Robert Snyder City Officials: Christine Hilton (Planning Supervisor), and BCPD representative Officer Andrew Winer and Officer Erick Hegelmann The Crime Search Report was distributed. Officer Winer discussed the work they have done on a prostitution sting, and he reported that several people have been taken into custody for the theft of catalytic convertors. He also discussed B & E’s and speeding issues within the area. Chris Hilton addressed the NPC report for the Rural Southwest. As a clarification she informed us that vehicle parking is not allowed on grassy areas of a residence. Parking must be on improved surfaces. Chris also distributed the Battle Creek Area Transportation Study for April which listed work projects for 2014 through 2017. Old Business: Laura Clingenpeel attended a meeting on April 17 regarding updating the city’s Master Plan. However, her report will be postponed until our next meeting as she was not in attendance. Due to a lack of a membership quorum following the January, March, and April meetings, the minutes for those meetings could not be approved. A motion was made by Harry Zimmerman and seconded by Sally Wytko to suspend Roberts Rules of Order for the purpose of voting on those minutes. Motion approved. A motion was then made to approve the minutes for January, March, and April by Harry Zimmerman, seconded by Sally Wytko. Motion approved. New Business: The following members whose terms expire in 2015; Jeannie Miralrio, Ken Rakoski, Fred Wright have not been attending recent council meetings. It was decided that if they do not attend our next council meeting, their names will be removed from council membership as we will assume that they no longer wish to be members of this council. A motion to adjourn at 7:20 PM was made by Harry Zimmerman, seconded by Sally Wytko Next meeting: Due to lack of sufficient council business, the next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 6:30 pm at Southside Bible Church
