Council Minutes – August 11, 2014
Meeting at Christ United Methodist Church
65 North Bedford Road
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:02 PM by Robert Whitfield, chair.
Attendance: Robert Whitfield, Chair; David Moore; Deborah Owens; Hal Longman; Walt McIlroy; Kathy
Antaya; Patricia Graw; Curtis Roberts; Brandin Huggett; Dennis McKinley; Dale Stratton; Sara Schmanske;
Austin Simons; Deborah Gregory; Johnny Vick
Previous Minutes: July 14, 2014 minutes were approved by voice vote
Correspondence: Chair Robert Whitfield informed the group of the opportunity to attend workshops and
seminars at various locations across the country to enhance community interaction and relations. If interested, call
968-1113 to participate.
Police Report: Officer Huggett fielded questions from the council. He discussed the rise in car break-ins in the
Urbandale area. Officer Huggitt and Austin Simonds discussed with the group measures being taken as well as
upcoming activities to reduce the number of incidents involving vehicle break-ins in the area.

School Report: N/A
Code Report: A written report was distributed by Dennis McKinley. He also fielded questions from the group.
Membership: Fred Bachman, Carl Brockman & Joshua Fausey had excused absences.
Beautiful Battle Creek Award: 70 Kellogg as nominated by Dale Stratton
Old Business: The open forum meeting was an open discussion on plans to utilize the funding being offered by
Neighborhoods Inc to area NPC’s. The group assigned various fact findings to members to bring to the next
meeting to continue with the formulation of the Urbandale NPC plan to use the funding.
New Business: Johnny Vick was nominated as a new member to the council. This nomination was approved by
voice vote.
Public Comment: Hal Longman announced that 8/28/14 is the Tea Party meeting at Burnham Brook at 6:30
The meeting adjourned at 8:21 P.M.
