MINUTES URBANDALE NEIGHBORHOOD PLANNING COUNCIL NPC #5 Christ United Methodist Church, 65 Bedford Rd Monday, April 10, 2023 FOR EXCUSED ABSENCES and AGENDA ADDITIONS/ DELETIONS CONTACT Kathy Antaya (cell) 616-450-1884 or (email) antayakathy@gmail.com 1. Called to order at 7:04 pm. A quorum was in attendance. 2. For attendance, see additional sheet. 3. Chair noted that the City Commission has not yet voted to approve new member, Pastor Janet Wilson. Chair will look into this matter. 4. Approval of agenda was motioned by Heather S., second by Pat G. Motion passed. 5. Approval of previous minutes from March 10, 2023 was motioned by David M., second by Fred B. Motion passed. 6. Of cer Scott, patrol of cer for Urbandale, provided a written report on Urbandale crimes, and answered questions. He also discussed the Urbandale patrol strategy and that they regularly check for locked doors on businesses overnight. Curtis R. thanked the of cer for nding a door unlocked on his business and getting a call from the police. 7. Bessie Stears, City of BC Environmental Programs Coordinator was the guest speaker. She provided info on the Children’s Water Festival (700 kids signed up), a new Canoe the Kazoo event in July, fi fi fi fi Earth Week activities, and Krazy for the Kazoo in the fall. She answered questions. Bessie also promoted the battlecreekwater.org community calendar. Each year they hold a competition for photos for the calendar. She encouraged neighbors to take pictures of our beautiful city and submit them. The City is working on a plan to locate and dispose of old tires. Bessie requests that we email her if we see piles of tires around the community. Reach her at: bestears@battlecreekmi.gov 8. Committee Reports: School report by Patty G. (School Board); Code report by Eric Morris (provided written report for Urbandale); Beautiful Battle Creek Award for 331 Rolling Dr. (“a lovely porch and well kept property”) No report from Food Pantry or Library 9. No Membership info 10. Old Business: Discussion of dates for Fell Park Clean up. Roger B. motioned to hold the Clean Up on April 23. Heather S. second. Motion passed. 11. No New Business 12. Roger Ballard, Ward 1 Commissioner, provided a report for Public Service Comments from Commissioners. 13. Brief Comments for the Good of the Order were made. 14.
