Neighborhood Planning Council 9 - Rural Southwest

Rural Southwest Neighborhood Planning Council (South Side Bible Church (Corner of S. Minges & Beckley Rd.) Minutes of March 13, 2012 Meeting Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by Vice Chair Harry Zimmerman. Members and Citizens Present: Harry Zimmerman, Linda (Morris) Zimmerman), Shelby Winslow, Rex Winslow, Sally Wytko, George Wytko and Laura Clingenpeel City Officials: Chris Hilton Minutes of previous meeting approved. Public Service Report and NPC Service Report: Chris Hilton distributed both reports and stated that the rental renewal certifications were indicative of the 3 year registration cycle that began in 2009. Chris also reported that there has been an upsurge in yard sign placement advertising various businesses. Attempts will be made to notify businesses that such signs are unacceptable and will be removed by city staff if the businesses fail to do so. Old Business: Chris Hilton reported that Advantage Physical Therapy has demolished two buildings on site and that the offending brush accumulation has been removed. In response to a question from Rex Winslow, Chris also reported that the City Commission has approved the sale of property to Borgess Hospital. Location of property is approximately 50' frontage on Beckley Road and 400' on Capital Avenue SW. New Business: Harry Zimmerman and Linda (Morris) Zimmerman reported on the Neighborhoods Inc, Nonprofit Alliance, Humanergy and the City of Battle Creek NPC Leadership Symposium partnership Open House on March 5. Information was distributed regarding the March 17 NPC Training and Peer Discussions and the September 22 NPC Coaching Support workshop. Also, discussed was the CDBG and HOME Investment Partnership funds Annual Action Plan for 2012 and the availability of the 2012 draft report. Meeting adjourned at 7:02 PM.
