Rural Southwest Neighborhood Planning Council Southside Bible Church – corner of S. Minges & Beckley Rd. Minutes of the March 12, 2013 Meeting Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by Linda Morris. Members and Citizens Present: Klingery Clingenpeel, Robert Harland, Durward McCleary, Linda Morris, George Wytko, Sally Wytko, Harry Zimmerman City Officials: Christine Hilton (Planning Supervisor), Commissioner Jeff Domenico, and BCFD representatives John Hausman and Scott Williamson Motion made by George Wytko and seconded by Bob Harland to approve the March minutes as corrected. The correction indicated that the “clear vision sight southeast corner of Minges/Sonoma Road” should read Beckley/Sonoma Roads. The NPC Code Report and the Crime Search Report were distributed. Chris Hilton commented on the Capital Improvement Plan which is up for review next Tuesday, March 19. It is a six year plan with a two tiered plan of options. John Hausman of the BCFD indicated that the department intends to become more visible by attending council meetings He also discussed the Smoke Detector program that distributes free detectors to anyone needing one. Residents can pick them up at Station #1 at 195 E. Michigan. The department’s goal is to see that 100% of our homes are supplied with detectors. Questions were raised about the possibility of CO2 detector distribution and, if the city was intending to hire a new police chief to replace Chief Larry Hausment before his retirement so that there would be some overlap Commissioner Domenico urged citizens to attend a meeting on Crime and Perception next Monday. Old Business: An information flyer about the city’s Neighborhood Planning Councils will not be distributed along with the city utility bills due to the cost of the flyers. However, an advertisement will be placed in “The Shopper”. New Business: Comment was made about the continuing problem of ineffective patching of potholes.
