Minutes of the September 8, 2015 Meeting
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by Vice-Chair George Wytko.
Members Present: Kingery Clingenpeel, Laura Clingenpeel, Susan Cooley, Bob Harland, Sallie Massa,
Cindy Snyder, Robert Snyder, George Wytko, Sally Wytko,
Members Excused: Linda Morris, Harry Zimmerman

City Officials: Planning Supervisor Christine Zuzga; Community Development Manager Chris Lussier;
BCPD Officer John Chrenenko
Approval of the Minutes: The minutes for May were approved. Motion by B. Snyder/ S. Massa
The Code Compliance Report for May 12 through Sept. 7, 2015 was distributed.
Chris Zuzga announced that because of Dawn Shorter’s retirement, her responsibilities have been
redistributed to three other individuals within the Community Services Division. Last week a meeting
was held with NPC officers throughout the city to discuss NPC issues as related to Dawn’s former
position.
Community Development Manager Chris Lussier reviewed some history of Block Grant funding, and
the progress the city has made with home rental registration. He distributed and discussed
information on High Priority Community Needs, City of Battle Creek’s Minor Home Repair, and
Neighborhood Indicators both city wide and the specific survey results of NPC9. Following his
presentation he entertained questions from members.
Lt. John Chrenenko distributed the BCPD Crime Reports and Foot Patrol and Traffic Stop Report for
the Rural Southwest. He discussed domestic violence and counterfeit money issues. He assured us
that the BCPD along with other law enforcement agencies are working to solve the I-94 shooting
incidents. A council member thanked the police for their continued efforts to assure our safety, and
requested that one of the lighted speed indicators be placed along S. Minges Rd. near the new Cereal
City Pediatric Center.
Old Business: None
New Business: Inquiry was made as to when chip sealing will occur on Minges and Sonoma Rds.
The November NPC meeting will include a workshop to provide input on the Master Plan. Chris Z.
shared the city’s plan to advertise this meeting in hopes for high attendance from community
residents.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m Motion made by G. Wytko/B. Snyder
