City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee City Hall 10 N. Division St. Zoom Electronic Meeting Monday, January 4, 2021, 3:30pm MINUTES Call to Order – 3:30 pm Attendance - Members – Commissioner Kristin Blood, Kathy Antaya, Bob Gilbert, Patty Hoch-Mullish, Sarah Kelly, Kurt Tribett, Mayor Mark Behnke (via phone), Andy Helmboldt (joined about 10 minutes in) Guests – Josh Etheridge, Bessie Stears, Eric Feldt Approval of Minutes – minutes were not sent out. Tabled to next meeting. Reports - City energy efficiency activities – none - Environmental Programs update – Kurt Tribett stated he had made some updates to the plan. Patty mentioned a grant they are looking into. - Planning updates – Eric Feldt updated the Committee about the new Master Plan. - City Commission updates - Sustainability Plan: - Plan revisions for 2021. The Committee discussed adding or changing goals. Andy Helmboldt mentioned “Green” purchasing and contracting plans. The Committee discussed various educational ideas with the new waste hauling contract. The Committee discussed changes to the Sustainable Plan, more specifically how data is measured. Field Trips, Trainings, Etc. - none Other Business - 2021 schedule: July 5 City is closed. Kristin Blood made a motion to suspend the July meeting, seconded by Kurt Tribett. All yes. - New Member – Joshua Etheridge: Kathy Antaya made a motion to recommend adding Joshua Etheridge to the Sustainable Committee, seconded by Kristin Blood. All yes. Public Comment - none Member Comments/Announcements - none Next Meeting – February 1, 2021 from 3:30-4:30pm via Zoom Adjournment – 5:01 pm

City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee City Hall 10 N. Division St. Zoom Electronic Meeting Monday, January 4, 2021, 3:30pm The purpose of this Committee is to increase the City's efforts to incorporate environmentally responsible, cost effective policy in the planning, administration and economic development of its built infrastructure and natural resources. The Committee may make recommendations to the City Commission for their consideration and will be available as a resource on sustainability policy. The committee is grateful for the land upon which we live, and recognizes the Potawatomi Nation as the original inhabitants. The committee seeks to partner when possible with the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) Tribe in stewardship of the land and its natural resources.
