City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee City Hall 10 N. Division St. Zoom Electronic Meeting Monday, March 1, 2021, 3:30pm MINUTES Call to Order – 3:31 pm Attendance – Kathy Antaya, CommissionerKristin Blood, Josh Etheridge, Andy Helmboldt, Patty Hoch-Melluish, Sarah Kelly, Bob Gilbert, Mayor Behnke Non-Members – Sue Anderson, Eric Feldt, Bessie Stears, Linn Kraft, Jill Anderson Approval of Minutes – Commissioner Blood made a motion to approve December 7, 2020; January 4, 2021; and February 1, 2021 minutes, seconded by Kathy Antaya. All yes. Approved Reports - City energy efficiency activities - none - Environmental Programs update – Patty Hoch-Melluish gave an update about grant work. Bessie Stears gave an update about a few projects coming in the near future. Sarah Kelly mentioned upcoming tire and recycling events. - Planning updates – Eric Feldt gave an update on Planning and Zoning matters. - City Commission updates – Commissioner Blood updated the Committee. Sustainability Plan: - Kathy Antaya made a motion to support the recommendation of the revised 2021 Sustainablity Plan to City Commission, supported by Patty Hoch-Melluish Field Trips, Trainings, Etc. - none Other Business - Earth Keepers Resolution – Andy Helmboldt discussed Earth Keepers. - A motion moved by Commissioner Blood and supported by Bob Gilbert to recommended Jill Anderson be appointed to the Committee. Public Comment - none Member Comments/Announcements – Commissioner Blood commented on door hangers. Next Meeting – April 5, 2021, 3:30-4:30pm location TBD, likely Zoom Adjournment – 4:57 pm

City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee City Hall 10 N. Division St. Zoom Electronic Meeting Monday, March 1, 2021, 3:30pm The purpose of this Committee is to increase the City's efforts to incorporate environmentally responsible, cost effective policy in the planning, administration and economic development of its built infrastructure and natural resources. The Committee may make recommendations to the City Commission for their consideration and will be available as a resource on sustainability policy. The committee is grateful for the land upon which we live, and recognizes the Potawatomi Nation as the original inhabitants. The committee seeks to partner when possible with the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) Tribe in stewardship of the land and its natural resources.
