City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee City Hall 10 N. Division St. Zoom Electronic Meeting Monday, April 5, 2021, 3:30pm MINUTES Call to Order – 3:30pm Attendance – Members - Commissioner Kristin Blood, Mayor Mark Behnke, Andy Helmboldt, Bessie Stears, Patty Hoch-Melluish, Bob Gilbert, Jill Anderson, Sarah Kelly, Kathy Antaya Non-Members – Keona Ackley, Linn Kracht, Kurt Tribett Approval of Minutes – Comm. Kristin Blood made a motion to approve the March 1, 2021, meeting minutes, seconded by Kathy Antaya. All yes. Approved. Reports - City energy efficiency activities – Kurt Tribett gave an update. - Environmental Programs update – Sarah Kelly gave an update about various events. - Planning updates - none - City Commission updates – Comm. Kristin Blood gave a brief update. Sustainability Plan: - Revised 2021 plan approved by commission March 16, 2021. Field Trips, Trainings, Etc. – none Other Business - Earth Keepers Resolution – Linn Kracht discussed the proposal. Bob Gilbert made a motion to recommend passing the Resolution to the City Commission, seconded by Comm. Kristin Blood. All yes. Approved. - Meeting agendas for remainder of 2021 (June, August, October, December) were discussed. - Kathy Antaya made a motion to recommend Keona Ackley be added as a member to the Sustainable Committee, seconded by Bob Gilbert. All yes. Approved. Public Comment – Keona Ackley spoke about becoming a member. Member Comments/Announcements - none Next Meeting – June 7, 2021, 3:30-4:30pm via Zoom Adjournment – 4:34 pm

City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee City Hall 10 N. Division St. Zoom Electronic Meeting Monday, April 5, 2021, 3:30pm The purpose of this Committee is to increase the City's efforts to incorporate environmentally responsible, cost effective policy in the planning, administration and economic development of its built infrastructure and natural resources. The Committee may make recommendations to the City Commission for their consideration and will be available as a resource on sustainability policy. The committee is grateful for the land upon which we live, and recognizes the Potawatomi Nation as the original inhabitants. The committee seeks to partner when possible with the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) Tribe in stewardship of the land and its natural resources.
