City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee Zoom Monday, December 6, 2021, 3:30pm MINUTES Call to Order – 3:31 pm Attendance – Andy Helmboldt, Kathy Antaya, Robert Gilbert, Jill Anderson, Joshua Etheridge, Kristin Blood, Patty Hoch-Melluish, Sarah Kelly, Keona Ackley(no video), Bessie Stears Non Members –Kurt Tribett Approval of Minutes – Kathy Antaya made a motion to approve the October 4, 2021 minutes, seconded by Keona Ackley. All yes – approved. Reports - City energy efficiency activities – Kurt Tribett updated on City facilities. - Environmental Programs update – Patty Hoch-Melluish and Bessie Stears updated the committee on various programs over the last year. - Planning updates - none - City Commission updates – Kristin Blood spoke about various items. - Consumers Energy – Bob Gilbert reported on the city’s Consumer Energy data. Sustainability Plan: - none Field Trips, Trainings, Etc.- none Other Business - Meeting schedule for 2022 – Kristin Blood made a motion to approve the meetings on the 1st Monday of each month with the exceptions of moving the August meeting to the 8th and no meetings for April, July, September and November, seconded by Joshua Etheridge. All yes – Approved. - Member re-appointments (Mark, Bessie, Andy, Sarah, Kathy, Patty, Barry) – Kristin Blood made a motion to reappoint the members for a two year terms expiring January 1, 2024, seconded by Joshua Etheridge. All yes – approved. - Discussion: City as convener for community-wide climate resiliency work. City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee Zoom Monday, December 6, 2021, 3:30pm The purpose of this Committee is to increase the City's efforts to incorporate environmentally responsible, cost effective policy in the planning, administration and economic development of its built infrastructure and natural resources. The Committee may make recommendations to the City Commission for their consideration and will be available as a resource on sustainability policy. The committee is grateful for the land upon which we live, and recognizes the Potawatomi Nation as the original inhabitants. The committee seeks to partner when possible with the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) Tribe in stewardship of the land and its natural resources.
