City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee City Hall Commission Chambers Monday, January 3, 2022, 3:30pm MINUTES Call to Order – 3:32pm Introductions – Andy Helmboldt, Sarah Kelly, Kathy Antaya, Josh Etheridge, Jill Anderson, Patty Hoch-Melluish, Mark Behnke Staff Members – Kurt Tribett, Lisa Silkworth Approval of Minutes – Mayor Mark Behnke made a motion to approve the December 2021 meeting minutes with the correction of the next meeting date, seconded by Kathy Antaya. All yes – Approved. Reports - - City energy efficiency activities - none - Environmental Programs update – Sarah Kelly gave a brief update on Calhoun County programs. Patty Hoch-Melluish spoke about the recycling program. - Planning updates - none - City Commission updates – Andy Helmboldt spoke about Boards and Committees updates. Sustainability Plan – Members discussed the plan going forward and any updates to the plan. Field Trips, Trainings, Etc. - none Other Business - Discussion- Andy Helmboldt spoke about the City as convener for community-wide climate resiliency work. Public Comment – none Member Comments/Announcements – none Next Meeting – February 7, 2022 at 3:30pm Adjournment – 4:19pm

City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee City Hall Commission Chambers Monday, January 3, 2022, 3:30pm The purpose of this Committee is to increase the City's efforts to incorporate environmentally responsible, cost effective policy in the planning, administration and economic development of its built infrastructure and natural resources. The Committee may make recommendations to the City Commission for their consideration and will be available as a resource on sustainability policy. The committee is grateful for the land upon which we live, and recognizes the Potawatomi Nation as the original inhabitants. The committee seeks to partner when possible with the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) Tribe in stewardship of the land and its natural resources.
