City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee Zoom Monday, February 7, 2022, 3:30pm MINUTES Call to Order – 3:32pm Attendance - Andy Helmboldt, Bessie Stears, Bob Gilbert, Patty Hoch-Melluish, Sarah Kelly, Joshua Etheridge, Keona Ackley, Kathy Antaya, Jill Anderson (after roll call) Non-Members – Kurt Tribett, Kaylynn Budreau, Perry Hart Approval of Minutes – Kathy Antaya made a motion to approve the minutes from the January 2022, supported by Bob Gilbert. All approved. Reports: City energy efficiency activities – Kurt Tribett gave an update for Waste Water Environmental Programs update - Bessie Stears gave a brief update about City programs. Planning updates - none City Commission updates - none Other Business: Guest: Perry Hart – Perry updated the committee about different processes the City of Battle Creek has been doing towards sustainability. Public Comment: none Member Comments/Announcements – Jill Anderson had a question about road salt. Kathy Antaya gave information about some climate seminars. Next Meeting – March 7, 3:30pm, Zoom Adjournment - 4:37 pm

City of Battle Creek Sustainable BC Committee Zoom Monday, February 7, 2022, 3:30pm The purpose of this Committee is to increase the City's efforts to incorporate environmentally responsible, cost effective policy in the planning, administration and economic development of its built infrastructure and natural resources. The Committee may make recommendations to the City Commission for their consideration and will be available as a resource on sustainability policy. The committee is grateful for the land upon which we live, and recognizes the Potawatomi Nation as the original inhabitants. The committee seeks to partner when possible with the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) Tribe in stewardship of the land and its natural resources.
