City of Bellingham City Council Special Meeting Minutes October 1, 2018, 6:00 PM Mayor Kelli Linville Contact: (360) 778-8200, ccmail@cob.org Council Members April Barker, Gene Knutson, Daniel Hammill, www.cob.org/council Pinky Vargas, Terry Bornemann, and Michael Lilliquist All meetings are held in the City Hall Council Chambers at 210 Lottie Street, Bellingham, WA, unless otherwise noted. Call to Order Roll Call Present: Council President Dan Hammill, Third Ward Council Member April Barker, First Ward Council Member Gene Knutson, Second Ward Council Member Pinky Vargas, Fourth Ward Council Member Terry Bornemann, Fifth Ward Council Member Michael Lilliquist, Sixth Ward 22077 1. Selection and Appointment of an Interim At-Large City Councilmember Dan Hammill, Council President, thanked all applicants for applying for City Council at-Large position. Speeches from applicants were heard. City Council adjourned to Executive Session at 7:22 PM. The purposes of executive sessions during the meeting was for the evaluation of the qualifications of the applicants and for the City Attorney to provide legal advice to ensure compliance with the Open Public Meetings Act. No action was taken during executive session. Council returned from Executive Session at 7:40 PM to report their top 5 choices. Roll call was taken and top 5 were reported by the Clerk. The Council adjourned for a second executive session discussion at 7:45 PM for the purposes described above. City Council returned from Executive Session at 8:17 PM. Nominees from each Council Member were taken and recorded on scrap paper by the Clerk to be placed in a bowl. The Clerk pulled a nomination from Pinky Vargas that read Hannah Stone for nomination to City Council Position At -Large. City Council Special Meeting Minutes Page 1 October 1, 2018 MOTION CARRIED 6-0. Hannah Stone, was confirmed as the next City Council Member at -Large. Adjournment There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:26 PM.
