Town of Vermont Annual Meeting October 12, 2020 6:30 pm This meeting will be call in only, due to Covid 19. Call into the meeting by dialing (608) 422-4798 1. Call to order Karen called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm 2. Proof of posting Katie certified that the meeting was posted on the door of town hall, noticed in the Mount Horeb Mail and Star News, posted on the website and emailed to subscribers. 3. Approval of the 2019 Annual Meeting Minutes John motioned to approve the 2019 minutes. Motion carried 10-0 4. Annual Financial Report Becca walked through the town revenue for 2019, including the money from the sale of the Mount Horeb fire building, which will be used to cover the first two years of payments on the loan for the new building. Karen explained that the tax money to support each of the fire districts comes from the residents of that district as the town calculates its levy. Karen went over the expense side for the 2019 year. Public works is the towns biggest expense, with care of the roads being the bulk of that. Becca then went through the spreadsheet showing where reserve funds were used to make up for overages in various budget line items. Doug motioned to approve the 2019 financial statement and the motion carried 10-0 5. Road Maintenance Report The town will be returning to a quadrant system for major road repairs such as seal coating, which will allow for more organized expenses. 6. Discussion of any other business to come before the meeting A resident asked a question about the possibility of in person voting being canceled in November. Katie responded that this was not really a possibility but that the town would be required to follow guidance from the Wisconsin elections commission. Katie outlined the steps the town has made during the previous two elections to make voting as safe as possible, including setting up plastic barriers, wearing masks, frequent sanitizing of surfaces throughout the day and opening all the doors and windows to town hall to keep air flowing. Katie also mentioned that additional safety measures are being considered for November, with more details to follow. 7. Set date of 2021 Annual Meeting The next annual meeting will be the 3rd Tuesday in April, April 20, 2021 at 7 pm. Diane Anderson made the motion and it carried 14-0 8. Adjournment Doug motioned for the meeting to be adjourned. Motion carried 14-0. Meeting adjourned at 7:00pm Katie Zelle, Clerk
