Brown Public Safety Building, 1100 SW Smith, Blue Springs, Missouri, with Chairman Ron Baker presiding. COUNCIL Ron Baker Kathy Hunter MEMBERS Justin Beal Dave Meyer PRESENT Erin Curry Cindy Miller - Absent Kim Deveney Tom Rohr Bill Essmann Kirk Sampson Jeff Grote Councilman Kent Edmonson Yvonne Hall - Absent Also present were Community & Economic Development Director – Tom Cole and Councilman Susan Culpepper. Visitors: Alex Brown and Shawn Kellar – US Bank and Joey Zarillo – ReMax CALL MEETING Chairman Ron Baker called the Economic Development Council meeting to TO ORDER order at 8:07 a.m. APPROVAL OF Councilmember Essmann moved to approve the minutes of August 15, MINUTES 2018 Economic Development Council meeting. Motion seconded by Councilmember Grote and carried with the following votes: Councilmember Baker – Aye Councilmember Hall– Absent Councilmember Beal - Aye Councilmember Hunter – Aye Councilmember Curry– Aye Councilmember Meyer – Aye Councilmember Deveney – Aye Councilmember Miller - Absent Councilmember Essmann– Aye Councilmember Rohr - Aye Councilmember Grote - Aye Councilmember Sampson - Aye PROJECT AND Tom Cole, Director of Community & Economic Development provided an DEVELOPMENT update on project and activity updates. Councilmembers posed some UPDATE clarifying questions related to the projects which were addressed by staff. OTHER BUSINESS A) EDC PRIORITIES Mr. Cole challenged the Councilmembers to continue thinking of “big ideas” the Council could pursue to establish a transformative vision for the City. October 17, 2018 Economic Development Council Page 2 B) COMMUNITY Councilmember Rohr discussed a clean-up/community pride initiative he BEAUTIFICATION has commenced. The Council verbally supported the effort and looks PROJECT forward to additional updates. C) CHAT STUDY Mr. Cole discussed the on-going Community Housing Assessment Team Study that will be concluded and presented to the City Council in January 2019. This will provide an opportunity for an independent third-party to quantify our existing housing stock compared to national trends and perceived demand.
