August 15, 2018
A meeting of the Blue Springs Economic Development Council, was held on Wednesday, August
15, 2018, in the Journagan Family Community Room, Howard L. Brown Public Safety Building,
1100 SW Smith, Blue Springs, Missouri, with Vice Chairman Dave Meyer presiding.

– Tom Cole, Assistant Community Development Director – Mike Mallon, and
Economic Development Coordinator - Teresa Evans. Visitors: Lisa
Hammett – Coordinator of College and Career Readiness, Blue Springs
School District and Bill Fennelly – Sr. Sales Manager, Rothwell

CALL MEETING Vice Chairman Dave Meyer called the Economic Development Council
TO ORDER meeting to order at 8:05 a.m.
APPROVAL OF Councilmember Essmann moved to approve the minutes of June 20, 2018
MINUTES Economic Development Council meeting. Motion seconded by
Councilmember Grote and carried with the following votes:

PUBLIC OFFICIAL Jacqueline Sommer, City Attorney provided members present with public
LIABILITY official liability training.
TRAINING
PROJECT AND Tom Cole, Director of Community & Economic Development and Teresa
DEVELOPMENT Evans, Economic Development Coordinator provided an update on project
UPDATE and activity updates. Councilmembers posed some clarifying questions
related to the projects which were addressed by city staff present.

EDC Expectations Mr. Cole shared insights with and requested ideas from the members
regarding the role Economic Development Council.
OTHER BUSINESS No other business.
VISITORS Lisa Hammett, Blue Springs School District and Bill Fennelly, Rothwell
Construction were present.
ADJOURNMENT At 8:50 a.m. there was no further business to come before the Economic
Development Council; Councilmember Essmann moved the meeting be
adjourned. Motion seconded by Councilmember Beal and carried unanimously.
