Brown Public Safety Building, 1100 SW Smith, Blue Springs, Missouri, with Chairman Ron Baker presiding. COUNCIL Ron Baker - Absent Kathy Hunter – Arrived 8:10 a.m. MEMBERS Justin Beal Dave Meyer PRESENT Erin Curry - Absent Cindy Miller - Absent Kim Deveney Tom Rohr Bill Essmann Kirk Sampson Jeff Grote Councilman Kent Edmonson Yvonne Hall Also present were Councilman – Susan Culpepper, Community & Economic Development Director – Tom Cole, Assistant Community Development Director – Mike Mallon, and Economic Development Coordinator - Teresa Evans. CALL MEETING Vice Chairman Dave Meyer called the Economic Development Council TO ORDER meeting to order at 8:05 a.m. APPROVAL OF Councilmember Essmann moved to approve the minutes of April 18, 2018 MINUTES Economic Development Council meeting. Motion seconded by Councilmember Grote and carried with the following votes: Councilmember Baker – Absent Councilmember Hall– Aye Councilmember Beal - Aye Councilmember Hunter – Absent Councilmember Curry– Absent Councilmember Meyer – Aye Councilmember Deveney – Aye Councilmember Miller - Absent Councilmember Essmann– Aye Councilmember Rohr - Aye Councilmember Grote - Aye Councilmember Sampson – Aye UPDATE ON Tom Cole, Community & Economic Development Director provided an TRANSITION update on his new role and the Community & Economic Development team transition. PROJECT AND Mr. Cole and Teresa Evans, Economic Development Coordinator provided DEVELOPMENT an update on project and activity updates. Councilmembers posed some UPDATE clarifying questions related to the projects which were addressed by city staff present. June 20, 2018 Economic Development Council Page 2 OTHER BUSINESS Kirk Sampson, Assistant Superintendent - Business Services, Blue Springs School District shared an overview of the district’s $99 Million “No Tax Rate Increase” Bond Issues and the “No Tax Rate Increase” Levy which will be on the August 7, 2018 ballot. In addition to security enhancements across eh school district, these bond dollars will create a freshman wing at Blue Springs South High School build a new media center and student learning spaces at Blue Springs High School, multipurpose facilities at three elementary buildings and much needed improvements to many of the district facilities. Mr. Sampson requested consideration for a resolution of support from the Economic Development Council. City staff will review available options and follow up with Economic Development Councilmembers via e- mail. ADJOURNMENT At 8:45 a.m. there was no further business to come before the Economic Development Council; Vice Chairman Meyer moved the meeting be adjourned.
