Brandon Keller Economic Development Manager  CITY OF BLUE SPRINGS, MISSOURI MINUTES OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL MEETING Wednesday, July 21, 2021 A meeting of the Blue Springs Economic Development Council was held at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, in Training Room 210 of the Blue Springs, Missouri City Hall Building, 903 W Main St. Blue Springs, Missouri. The following members, guest and staff were in attendance with Chair Becky Nace presiding. Motion seconded by Councilmember Zarrillo and carried with the following votes: Beal – Aye Shaver – ABSENT Terry Revels – Aye Lucas - ABSENT Grote - Aye Sampson – Aye McCullough - Aye Vermillion – ABSENT Vice Chair Zarrillo – Aye Baker – ABSENT Chair Nace - Aye Scott – ABSENT July 21st, 2021 Economic Development Council Page 2 CALL MEETING Chair, Becky Nace called the Economic Development Council TO ORDER meeting to order at 8:02 a.m. APPROVAL OF The April 21 minutes were not approved due to not having a MINUTES quorum of Council members. MEMBER UPDATE Brandon Keller introduced Ron Baker as the new member of the EDC Board. He was unable to attend the meeting. SCHOOL DISTRICT Superintendent of the Blue Springs School district gave a PRESENTATION presentation for the No Tax Increase Bond ballot initiatives on the August 3rd election. Discussions were had about the effects of road removal near the Blue Springs High School and the aquatics center closing. Chief Grote confirmed that all improvements to the School District facilities will have sufficient safety access routes. ECONOMIC Brandon Keller explained the marketing changes have been DEVELOPMENT delayed due to Facebook not approving the pages to be joined. MARKETING Updates will be given at the next meeting. OTHER BUSINESS Brandon thanked Justin Beal for showing an example project update format to use for board member updates. Brandon agreed it was a good idea and will be used in the future. Brandon explained the efforts to assist with the Heartland Basic training course in the Spring of 2022. Ideas were touring local businesses and assisting in marketing efforts for visiting attendees. Other discussion consisted of Workforce issues and the effects it is having on local businesses. ADJOURNMENT At 8:59 a.m. there was no further business to come before the Economic Development Council, Councilmember Shaver moved the meeting be adjourned.
