CITY OF BLUE SPRINGS, MISSOURI MINUTES OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL MEETING WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2021 A meeting of the Blue Springs Economic Development Council was held at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, via Microsoft Teams as provided in Section 610.020(1) RSMo. with Chair Becky Nace presiding. CALL MEETING Chair Nace called the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m. ORDER CONFIRMATION OF Becky Nace, Chair – Present QUORUM Joey Zarrillo, Vice Chair – Present Ron Baker – Joined at 8:07 Justin Beal – Present Kirk Lair – Present Erika Lucas – Present James McCullough – Present Kirk Sampson – Present Michael Scott – Absent Lyle Shaver - Absent Robin Terry-Revels – Present Lara Vermillion – Present STAFF & City Council Liaison Jerry Kaylor OTHER ATTENDEES Acting City Administrator Christine Cates Director of Community Development Mike Mallon City Clerk Sheryl Morgan District 3 City Councilmember Susan Culpepper Laura Bowlin NEW MEMBER Kirk Lair, Fire Chief of Central Jackson County Fire Protection District, has joined the Council, replacing Jeff Grote. PROJECT UPDATES Acting City Administrator Christine Cates and Community Development Director Mike Mallon provided updates on the following: • Blue Springs Logistics • Mall at Fall Creek • Main Center Redevelopment projects downtown • Update on economic incentives published in January • Amazon facility on Coronado • Calamar senior housing project • Chase Bank on 7 Highway • Whataburger • Tacos for Life October 20, 2021 Economic Development Council Page 2 • Mo’ Bettas Hawaiian Restaurant • Hawaiian Brothers • Con Carpet expansion • Medical Marijuana dispensary • KC Curling Club UPDATE OF The City is currently reviewing the job description and ECONOMIC qualifications for an Economic Development manager. Any DEVELOPMENT feedback or recommendations from the Council is appreciated. MANAGER POSITION NEXT MEETING After discussion, the Council agreed to cancel the December meeting. The next meeting of the Council will be February 16, 2022. ADJOURNMENT At 8:23 a.m. there was no further business to come before the Economic Development Council, Councilmember Terry-Revels moved the meeting be adjourned. Motion seconded by Councilmember Vermillion.
