Agenda. It passed unanimously.
Visitors/Correspondence: None
Program/Activity Spotlight: Nichole Cogbill presented on several events that took place this past Fall.
Nichole highlighted Spooky Springs and Brunch with Santa, both of which are annual events that the
department hosts. As these events are reoccurring, staff worked hard to create new components for the
events to attract new people and keep people coming back. Although Spooky Springs was cancelled the
previous your due to weather, the turnout this year was over 400 people, exceeding our expectations.
Nichole also highlighted upcoming Spring events that include Cosmic Bingo and Movie on the Turf,
which had great turnout. Nichole also highlighted upcoming spring events Daddy/Daughter Dance,
Indoor Snowball Hunt, and Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt.
Finances: Financials were reviewed by Dennis. The department is well within the budget.
Staff Reports: Staff reviewed their reports
Parks and Recreation Commission Chairman’s Report: None
City Council Liaison Report: Council Liaison Fowler spoke about the time capsule. It will be buried
this Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 11am.
Old Business: Dennis reviewed the status of the current park sales tax progress. He explained that the
demolition at Burrus Old Mill Park is approximately 95% complete. Due to the weather construction has
slowed. Concrete was poured but fixtures are not in yet for the Splash Pad. The main focus right now is
on the mechanical room for the pump house and bathrooms. Equipment has been ordered for the Skate
Park and is on track to be complete with the rest of the park. We are still on target for a Memorial Day
completion; but, if the weather continues as it is, the grand opening could be later.

New Business: None
Miscellaneous: The next Park Sales Tax Sub-Committee meeting will be Thursday, January 31, 2019.
As there was no further business, a motion for adjournment was made by George Deibert and seconded
by Kathy Richardson.
