Minutes of a Regular Public Art Commission Meeting September 11, 2024 A regular meeting of the Blue Springs Public Art Commission was held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 4:00pm at the Fieldhouse. The Chairman called the meeting to order. Ramon Magee – Present City Council Liaison: Kent Edmondson - Present Taylor Beller - Present Parks Dept. Staff: Mary Herrington Kamera Meaney- Absent Kathy Cornelius- Present Cydney Carl- Absent Elizabeth Owen – Present Tony Begulia - Absent A motion was made by Kathy and seconded by Ramon to accept the Minutes of the July meeting as presented; it passed unanimously. Financial Report. The financial report was available for review. There were no questions 2025 Temporary Art Exhibit - The PAC discussed the option of partnering with Creative Communities Alliance (CCA) in addition to finding artists through Café has it has been done in past years. - Ramon stated there would be less volume of artists if the PAC chooses to only work with CCA and we should use this as a test. - After further discussion, a motion was made by Ramon and seconded by Elizabeth to spend $100 to join CCA for 2025 and work towards getting one temporary art piece. - A motion was made by Ramon and seconded by Elizabeth to also join Café and continue with the same process that has been done the past several years to search for three pieces for the temporary art exhibit. - Both motions passed unanimously. Status/Information/Updates - Ramon presented on the various maintenance projects. Cleaning and power washing has been completed at the Veteran’s Way Memorial. - We are waiting on materials for the new lenses at Quarsarc. - Mother and Child is being evaluated to see if it can be properly repaired and replaced at the library. - The plaque at Skateboarder has major damage and needs to be replaced. - Ramon presented two quotes for power washing work to be done at Frieze. - A motion was made by Ramon to contract with G & S Mobile Powerwashing LLC to powerwash Frieze. Elizabeth seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Visitors/Public Comment - None Other Business- - Signs have been ordered for the current temporary art and will be installed by Parks and Recreation staff once they are done. As there was no further business, a motion for adjournment was made by Kathy and seconded by Ramon. Meeting was adjourned at 5:00pm ___________________________________ Taylor Beller, Chairman 1
