BORDENTOWN, NEW JERSEY NOVEMBER 12, 2024 The Meeting of the Board of Commissioners was held at Carslake Community Center, 207 Crosswicks Street at 7:00 PM. The Meeting was called to order by Mayor Jennifer L. Sciortino. The Acting City Clerk read the Sunshine Notice. The following named Commissioners answered the roll call: Mayor Jennifer L. Sciortino, and Commissioner Heather Cheesman. The Acting City Clerk presented the following for Approval. Mayor Sciortino motioned to approve, seconded by Commissioner Cheesman. Motion Carried. CITY OF BORDENTOWN Resolution 2024-121 Resolution Authorizing an Emergency Contract for the Installation of three (3) Peerless Pumps for Well No 3 proposed Well No 6 at the Water Treatment Plant to Municipal Maintenance Company in an amount not to exceed $553,570.00 Commissioner Cheesman presented Ordinance 2024-13 for second reading and hearing, seconded by Mayor Sciortino. The hearing was opened to the public.  CITY OF BORDENTOWN ORDINANCE 2024-12 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BORDENTOWN, IN THE COUNTY OF BURLINGTON, NEW JERSEY, PROVIDING FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND RELATED EXPENSES IN AND FOR THE CITY, AND APPROPRIATING $314,000 THEREFOR, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $298,300 IN GENERAL IMPROVEMENT BONDS OR NOTES OF THE CITY OF BORDENTOWN TO FINANCE THE SAME. Mr. Joseph Malone of 506 Farnsworth Avenue asked if the sidewalks would be done by a contractor and he was advised that it would be and Mr. Erickson, Public Works Superintendent, was in the process of getting bids on the project. Mr. Dan Aubrey of 418 Prince Street asked if the Bond would cover the cost of the tree removal and he was informed that it would. Commissioner Cheesman presented the Housing Report for Month Ending October 31, 2024, with a Total 26 Applications and/or permits. CITY OF BORDENTOWN RESOLUTION 2024-119 Approving A Change Order Greater than Twenty Percent Pursuant to NJAC 5:30-11.9 Commissioner Cheesman presented Ordinance 2024-17 first reading with the second reading scheduled for December 9, 2024, seconded by Mayor Sciortino. Ordinance 2024-17 Ordinance Amending Chapter 258 Entitled Vehicles and Traffic } Jennifer L. Sciortino Nays} Roll Call Vote: Ayes } Abstain} } Heather Cheesman Absent}Deputy Mayor Myers Mayor Sciortino then opened the meeting to the public for public comments. Kathy Dawson asked the Board why no fire alarms went off when the fire at Angie’s started and was advised by Chief Lafferty that alarms did go off. Ms. Dawson stated that the election workers were very good during election day, however, thought there should have been more training for them. Dan Aubrey of 418 Prince Street congratulated the Governing Body on the approval of the votes for the open space tax and added that the election staff handled election day very well and stayed calm. He then congratulated Commissioner Cheesman for winning the election and stated how grateful he was that the residents had so many choices.  Dan Preston of 321 Prince Street seconded everything that Mr. Aubrey had stated and wanted everyone to be mindful, to be civil and to check in on neighbors.
