City of Bossier City Annual Comprehensive Financial Report  SERVICES PROVIDED BY PUBLIC WORKS • Streets & Drainage • Maintenance and repair of City streets, including alleys and sidewalks • Maintenance and repair of drainage systems • Street sweeping and mowing of designated public areas • Solid Waste • Oversight of contracted services and City employees performing solid waste collection • Recycling collection and processing • Litter collection • Animal Control • Enforcement of animal, fowl, and reptile ordinances and directives • Operation of the animal control facility • Herbicide & Mosquito Control • Chemical vegetation control along City streets and drainage • Control of mosquito and other insects • Oversight of contracted services for chemical vegetation control drainage system inspections.  DETAILS ABOUT SERVICES Average intake cost is $233 per animal • This includes shots, wormer, boosters, spay/neuter, rabies testing/vaccination, food, heartworm tests/treatment, microchip, and kennel cleaning I-20 and I -220 maintenance • The City is responsible for maintenance from the Red River to Red Chute Bayou. • DOTD only reimburses the City for two mowing cycles per year (approximately $66,000 per year). This includes mowing, spraying, and litter abatement. Maintenance , Inspection, and Repair • Ditches, streets (including subdivisions), sidewalks, drainage systems, and rights -of way. Operates Recycling Center and Drop -off Station Chemical spraying for vegetation and mosquito control  Fee for “maintenance of the general cleanliness and sanitation of the City” first implemented by Ordinance 641 of 1958. Fees were levied “per unit” on multi -unit facilities. • Public Services & Sanitation Enterprise Fund was established by Ordinance 125 of 2001. • Prior to this, all fees and expenses were deposited and paid from the General Fund. • Administration and Streets & Drainage are funded by the General Fund. • All other divisions are funded by the Public Service & Sanitation Fund. Increases to the Sanitation Fee were passed by Ordinance in 1978, 1985, 1988, 1989, 2005, 2013, a 2025.
