Jamin, CPRB Superintendent MEMO TO: Philip Zegarelli, Village Manager F'ROM: DATE: Flenry Jamin May 15,2019 ry RE: Pickleball - Proposed Permit Fee Structure The Pickleball "Meet & Greet" that I conducted at our Platform Tennis courts this past Saturday was a rousing success, with over 40 people in attendance and another handful who let me know that they are interested, but couldn't make the kick-off event. As we discussed, I believe our best approach moving forward is to implement a permit system, and have the Board of Trustees set the fees by approving the inclusion of the following fees as part of the Village's Master Fee Schedule, If at all possible, it would be best if we can include this action item on the agenda for the next BOT meeting. The following outlines my thinking behind the proposed fees: - Similar to Platform Tennis, these permits would provide players with the ability to reserve court time and provide them with the combination needed to access our locked courts. - As a new offering that we want to see take ofl I think it's important to keep the permit fee relatively low, so people are more inclined to give it a try and hopefully stick with it. - Although primarily a winter sport, Platform Tennis can be played year-round if desired. Pickleball, on the other hand, will be a wann weather activity only, and doesn't cany the same maintenance requirements that Platform does (labor for snow & ice removal, propane heater use, etc.) - An annual Adult Resident Platfbrm Permit is currently $180 per person. At basically half the season, with no maintenance expenses, I am proposing that we base our Pickleball permit fees around an Adult Resident fee of $50 per person, with slight discounts built into the schedule for families with multiple players, children and seniors. Fees for School District residents and non-residents are proposed to be $10-$30 higher depending upon the permit category. Proposed 2019 Pickleball Permit Fee Schedule Village Residents School District & Non-Residents Adult $ 50.00 $ 60.00 Gouple $ 90,00 $110.00 Family $130.00 $160.00 Child/Seniors $ 40.00 $ 50.00 Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. Please let me know if you have any questions, or if there is anything further that I might be able to provide to you or the Board in advance of the next meeting. I am also happy to attend if that would be helpful! BMR 3 Library Road, Briarcliff Manor, New York 10510 . (914) 941-5560 . rnx (914) 944-2748
