Bristol Tennessee Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Meeting January 3, 2013 6:00pm Present: Susi Chandler Sherry Willinger Chris Estep Jerry Greene Jim Goodwin Chris Connally Vivian Tester Absent: Bethany Russell Becky Wilkerson Richard Heller Staff: Terry Napier Crystal Key I. Invocation by Chris Estep. II. Introductions – Vivian Tester, new board member. III. Approval of October 4, 2012 minutes – Chris Estep made the motion to accept the minutes. Sherry seconded the motion. Motion carried. IV. Old Business A. Rotary Park Update – Everything is looking good, with all the rain things have been slow. B. FY 13 Projects – Terry gave a brief report on the status of the listed projects. • Shelter B steps (complete) • New Break-room/office building (complete) • Re-roofing project (near completion) • Shelter Renovations/painting (near completion) 1. New Business A. FY 14 CIP / Budget ideas – The process is beginning, so if anyone has any ideas, please let Terry know. B. SCP 50th Anniversary Celebration (2014) – 2014 will be SCP’s 50th Anniversary; there will be a committee to start planning events for the celebration. If anyone is interested, let Terry know. C. Citizens Municipal Academy (Oct 18 – Nov 29) – Terry gave an overview of the CMA, Chris Connally was a participant and gave an overview of his experience. D. New projects – Terry gave a brief status updated on the listed projects.  ƒ Shelter B playground new equipment (ordered) ƒ Rotary Field playground (ordered) ƒ Beaver Creek Pavilion (complete) ƒ Slater exercise rooms renovations (complete) ƒ Avoca and Western shelter removals (complete) ƒ Holston View Park score tower renovations ƒ Holston View LL fence replacement ƒ Patterson Park fence replacement ƒ SCP trail clearing/improving (on going) ƒ Welding shop (complete) ƒ Old break-room renovations E. New Equipment – In the last 4 1/2 years we have really worked to get our equipment up to date and have what the employees need to get the job done. Terry gave a brief status on the below equipment. ƒ Skid-steer Loader (Bobcat) & trailer/attachments ƒ John Deere Out-front Mower ƒ 2 John Deer zero-turn mowers ƒ 2 Honda push mowers ƒ Pick-up w/utility bed ƒ Min-van (Seniors) transferred from Community Development ƒ Chevy Impala (Mallory) transferred from Police ƒ GMC 3500 w/stakebed & lift, transferred from Fire VI. Comments from Commissioners: A. Susie Chandler – It is good to see people in the park enjoying the trails. B. Vivian Tester – First meeting, it has been very informative, excited to be a part of the group. C. Chris Connally – Kids have been in the cave and have said that the bars have been bent back. Terry will have it checked. D. Sherry Willinger – Requested signage update, pets on leashes, etc. The gentleman who does our signs has been on vacation. VII. Meeting adjourned at 7:15pm. VIII.
