Roll Call attendance taken as follows: Commission Members present: Chairperson C.P. Hall II and Commissioner Linda Dumas Commissioner Members Absent: Commissioner Ray Williamson Also in Attendance: Fire Chief James Adams, Police Chief Michael Kuruvilla, and HR Manager Brad Mitchell PUBLIC COMMENT: None OMNIBUS AGENDA Approval of Minutes: Fire and Police Commissioners Regular Meeting held on November 1, 2023 Motion by Commissioner Dumas, seconded by Chairperson C.P. Hall II to approve the regular meeting minutes from November 1, 2023. Upon roll call, the motion carried as follows: Ayes: Chairperson C.P. Hall II and Commissioner Dumas. Nays: None. Abstain: None. Absent: Commissioner Williamson. Discussion Items: A. Update on hiring of candidates from Police list HR Manager Mitchell provided a status update on the hiring from the Entry Level Police Officer List. B. Update on creating a new Fire list HR Manager Mitchell stated that Fire list has exhausted and staff will be reaching out to IO Solutions to schedule the Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic testing. C. Update on promotional sergeant testing HR Manager Mitchell stated that IO Solutions has scheduled promotional sergeant testing for February 7, 2024 and February 22, 2024. Process for disqualifying candidates from lists Chairperson C.P. Hall II stated that during the post offer hiring process that HR Manager Mitchell would keep the Commissioners updated on the status of the candidate, including if it is determined or recommended that a candidate should be disqualified. The Commissioners agreed to this process. C.P. Hall II reminded the Commissioners not to “reply all” to emails in which all the Commissioner members are included on. HR Manager Mitchell suggested emailing or calling him individually if there are any questions/concerns regarding the status of a candidate. E. Update on creation of a lateral entry program Police Chief Kuruvilla provided an update on the creation of a lateral entry program. Old Business None New Business None Executive Session 1. Pursuant to Section 2 (c) (1) of the Open Meetings Act to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific Village employees. a. No need for executive session on December 6, 2023. Next Meeting Chairperson C.P. Hall II stated that if a meeting next month was necessary that it would be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. Adjournment Motion by Chairperson C.P. Hall II, seconded by Commissioner Dumas, to adjourn the December 6, 2023 meeting of the Fire and Police Commissioners at 6:28 P.M.
