MINUTES OF AN OFFICIAL MEETING Regular Meeting of: Board of Public Works Date and Time: Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 7:00 pm Location: City Hall Council Chambers, 2000 North Calhoun Road, Brookfield WI Members Present: Alderman Rick Owen (Chairman), Alderman Christopher Blackburn (Mayor Alternate), Alderman Mike Hallquist, Alderman Dean Marquardt, Alderman Kris Seals Others Present: Director of Public Works Tom Grisa, City Engineer Dan Erickson Members Absent/Excused: Mayor Steven Ponto, Alderman Tom Szews (Alternate) 6/11/2024 - Minutes 1. Roll Call Alderman Rick Owen noted a quorum present and called the Board of Public Works meeting to order at 7:29pm. 2. Announcements a. The next regularly scheduled meeting is Tuesday, July 9, 2024 @ 7:00 pm 3. Approval of Minutes a. Minutes of the May 14, 2024 meeting Motion by Alderman Chris Blackburn, second by Alderman Kris Seals to approve the minutes of the May 14, 2024, Board of Public Works meeting. Motion carried 5-0. 4. Unfinished Business a. None 5. New Business a. First revision to the State Municipal Agreement for storm sewer and other utility improvements related to the reconstruction of Capitol Drive from Brookfield Road to N. 124th Street Alderman Blackburn inquired about the municipal fund money in the agreement. Mr. Grisa replied those are for local storm sewer improvements and sewer and water adjustments. Mr. Grisa also mentioned that the current language in the agreement includes acceptance of a State Municipal Maintenance Agreement that he is working with the DOT on revisions thereto to make it more palatable to the City. He believes the DOT will acquiesce to the revised conditions, so the Board should approve the agreement subject to that. Motion carried 5-0. b. Dedication of Roads, Streets and Pathway improvements, Storm Sewer and Surface Drainage improvements for Northern Oaks subdivision. Alderman Hallquist asked about the properties on Lisbon serviced with sewer and water by the City that are in Menomonee Falls. Mr. Grisa responded the property has detached from Menomonee Falls to the City of Brookfield. Motion by Alderman Kris Seals, second by Alderman Mike Hallquist to approve the dedication of Roads, Streets and Pathway improvement, Storm Sewer and Surface Drainage improvements for Northern Oaks subdivision. Motion carried 5-0. c. Underwood Creek Streambank Stabilization Project Alderman Blackburn inquired if the credits for reducing total suspended solids and phosphorous have a monetary value. Mr. Grisa responded the credits do not specifically equate to a monetary value, but obviously there is a cost for performing the work to obtain the credits. The City also completes projects for a reduction in pollution to the waterways. This project would provide credit toward compliance with the City’s TMDL. Motion by Alderman Kris Seals, second by Alderman Dean Marquardt to approve the Underwood Creek Streambank Stabilization Project. Motion carried 5-0. 6.
