MINUTES OF AN OFFICIAL MEETING Regular Meeting of: Board of Public Works Date and Time: Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 7:00 pm Location: City Hall Council Chambers, 2000 North Calhoun Road, Brookfield WI Members Present: Alderman Rick Owen (Chairman), Alderman Christopher Blackburn (Mayor Alternate), Alderman Mike Hallquist, Alderman Dean Marquardt, Alderman Kris Seals Others Present: Director of Public Works Tom Grisa, City Engineer Dan Erickson Members Absent/Excused: Mayor Steve Ponto, Alderman Tom Szews (A.A.) 5/14/2024 - Minutes 1. Roll Call Alderman Rick Owen noted a quorum present and called the Board of Public Works meeting to order at 7:18pm. 2. Announcements a. The next regularly scheduled meeting is Tuesday, June 11, 2024 @ 7:00 pm 3. Approval of Minutes a. Minutes of the April 9, 2024, meeting Motion by Alderman Mike Hallquist, second by Alderman Kris Seals to approve the minutes of the April 9, 2024, Board of Public Works meeting. Motion carried 5-0. 4. Unfinished Business a. None 5. New Business a. Variance request for firepit at 3605 Westwood Drive Alderman Marquardt inquired if the area is zoned wetland. Mr. Erickson responded the area in question is not zoned as wetland but there are wetland indicators. Mr. Grisa added there can be hydrophilic soils which would develop into a wetland if left alone. Alderman Marquardt replied this is an use issue if it is zoned wetlands and a firepit is not permitted in wetland zone. Motion by Alderman Kris Seals, second by Alderman Mike Hallquist to deny the variance request for firepit at 3605 Westwood Drive. Motion carried 5-0. b. Change Order to the 2024 Road Resurfacing project to include Clare Bridge subdivision  Motion by Alderman Kris Seals, second by Alderman Mike Hallquist to deny the variance request for firepit at 3605 Westwood Drive. Motion carried 5-0. b. Change Order to the 2024 Road Resurfacing project to include Clare Bridge subdivision Alderman Hallquist commented that including the Claire Bridge subdivision on the Road Resurfacing project is the most practical way to maintain the quality of the roads. Motion by Alderman Chris Blackburn, second by Alderman Mike Hallquist to approve the change order to the 2024 Road Resurfacing project to include Clare Bridge subdivision. Motion carried 5-0. c. Award of the Epoxy Pavement Marking contract Motion by Alderman Dean Marquardt, second by Alderman Kris Seals to approve the award of the Epoxy Pavement Marking contract. Motion carried 5-0. d. Award of Lisbon Road Rehabilitation and Recreational Path Project R-23-05 Motion by Alderman Kris Seals, second by Alderman Chris Blackburn to approve the Lisbon Road rehabilitation and Recreational Path project R-23-05. Motion carried 5-0. 6. Adjournment Motion by Alderman Mike Hallquist, second by Alderman Kris Seals to adjourn the meeting at 7:40 pm. Motion carried 5-0.
