Ayres (1925) District D4 Request: Rehabilitation of a five-story masonry and brick historic office building for its commercial (basement and 1st floors), multipurpose area (2nd story), and residential (apartments, remaining upper stories) reuse. Project will follow the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. Applicant: CDCB. City Staff: Juan Velez, Historic Preservation Office, 956-548-6142. Staff recommendation: The building is designated as a HIGH preservation priority ranking. Project reviewed by the Texas Historical Commission, granted with tax credits. Owner must list and salvage historic building materials to be removed from the building (some historic doors, glazing, and hardware, historic elevator governors, print machines, stoves, projected sign, etc.). Reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Committee. Approval of the COA.
