Architect PUTEGNAT, Tara–Heritage Tourism Professional WALKER, Calvin–Chairman NOTICE OF A PUBLIC MEETING OF THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BROWNSVILLE Pursuant to Chapter 551, Title 5 of the Texas Government Code, the Texas Open Meetings Act, notice is hereby given that the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) of the City of Brownsville, Texas, has scheduled a Regular Meeting, on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 12:00 P.M., in the Planning and Redevelopment Department Meeting Room, 1034 E. Levee St. – 2nd Floor, Brownsville, Cameron County, Texas, 78520. Pursuant to Section 551.127, Texas Government Code, one or more Commissioners or employees may attend this meeting remotely using videoconferencing technology. Public Comments* Members of the public who submitted a “Public Comment Form” will be permitted to offer public comments as provided by the agenda and as permitted by the presiding officer during the meeting. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A. February 11, 2022 – Offered for consent approval. 2. PUBLIC HEARINGS A.1 03092022 – 1136-1144 E. Washington St. – CALDERONI BUILDING District D4 Request: Rehabilitation of the existing significant historic building. Applicant: Enrique Solorzano. City Staff: Juan Velez, Historic Preservation Office, 956-548-6142. Staff recommendation: Rehabilitation of the interior, preserving tin ceiling and historic façade including canopy and transom windows. Approval following staff recommendations. A.2 03152022 – 1224 E. Jackson St. District D4 Request: Demolition of the rear structure. Applicant: Oscar E. Platas, Jr. City Staff: Juan Velez, Historic Preservation Office, 956-548-6142. Staff recommendation: The structure does not have any of the original characteristics losing its significance and does not meet current requested living conditions. Approval following staff recommendations.
