Special City Council Meeting

CITY OF BRUSH! MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 5, 2015 – SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING The City Council of the City of Brush Colorado and the Brush Rural Fire Board met in special session on October 5, 2015. Mayor Chuck Schonberger called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. City Council Present: Mayor Chuck Schonberger Councilor Jeanine Anderson Councilor Heath Becker Councilor Kimberly Dykes Councilor Mark Smith Brush Rural Fire Board: Roger Holter Pat Draegert Steve Edwards Ron Kembel Rex August Also present were City Administrator Monty Torres, Finance Director Joanne Gosselink, City Clerk Andrea Strand and Assistant Fire Chief Ray Uhrick. Members of the Brush City Council and Brush Rural Fire Board met and identified common goals of: 1. Constructing an addition to and repairing the existing fire department building. 2. Entering into an Intergovernmental Agreement for the project/process of the construction and ongoing maintenance of the building. 3. Meet with our DOLA representative, Greg Etl, to see which entity would be best suited to apply for the grant and other specifics of funding that DOLA may assist with. City Administrator Monty Torres stated that Brush City Council had recently identified in their 2016-2017 Council Priorities a Public Safety Building for the fire department, police department and ambulance. He added that the County had determined that they would proceed with their own ambulance facility on Hospital Road. He added that Council would need to receive all capital outlay requests for all departments before identifying a dollar amount that could be designated for this project. He and Joanne explained the funding that the citizens of Brush had allocated to the Fire Department Building and Equipment Fund. Monty also explained the Technical Assistance Grant that may be available to assist with the estimate of engineering the building and design work. He added that he would prefer to do this instead of a design build concept, but would be open to options. Andrea will schedule a meeting for the three appointed representatives and Greg Etl, DOLA.
