Pre-COA Discussion: Locke House Nancy Locke presented potential plans to repair the roof on her locally landmarked residence. The plans were discussed and Nancy was advised that, since the work will not constitute an “alteration” to the property, it was not subject to the certificate of appropriateness review process. B. Future Grant Application Planning: Interpretive Signs John O’Brien presented several options for interpretative signs for consideration. The consensus was to proceed with a sign that emphasizes historic images rather than text/narrative; a sign that lays flat rather than upright; and a sign that is located on/near a sidewalk rather than on a particular building. The HPC will coordinate with the Beautification Board on the appearance and location of these signs, and expect the project to take about 18 months. C. CLG Scholarship Application for CAMP/ CPI Annual Conference Mary Therese advised the HPC that scholarships would be available for the upcoming commissioners training (“CAMP”) and the Saving Places Conference. Commissioners wishing to attend and benefit from the scholarship should email Mary Therese, who will apply for a scholarship on behalf of the Town/HPC.
