SPECIAL BOARD OF CONTROL Meeting Minutes A Special Board of Control meeting was held Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 11:30 AM in the Mayor’s Conference Room. Board President, Mayor Bernabei called the meeting to order at 11:30 AM. Director of Public Safety Andrea Perry and Director of Public Service John Highman were present. Board Secretary Katie Wise was also present. Visitor present was Chris Hardesty from the Department of Development. The following items were for review/approval by the Board of Control: 9/29/2020 - Minutes 1. Ordinance 159/2020 Enter into Contract Amendment No. 1 with Economic Community & Development Institute, Inc. in order to revise the grant program from $7,500.00 distributed per business to issuing three different levels of $2,500; $5,000 and $10,000 to businesses. The original number of 80 businesses to receive grants is also being removed because the total number of businesses that will be assisted at these new varying amounts is unknown. Discussion: The revised guidelines for the grant program were distributed to the members of the Board of Control. Per Chris Hardesty, information such as job requirements, that are not required by the State of Ohio has been removed from the guidelines. Mayor Bernabei made sure that income and property tax checks will be done on all applicants. Chris clarified that a tax affidavit was prepared by Phil Schandel in the Canton Law Department. 60 businesses have applied for grants so far. The deadline for applications is September 30, 2020 at 8:00pm. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contract amendment. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. Adjournment: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Director Perry seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Meeting adjourned: 11:33 AM
