SPECIAL BOARD OF CONTROL Meeting Minutes A Special Board of Control meeting was held Monday, October 4, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the Mayor’s Conference Room. Board President, Mayor Bernabei called the meeting to order at 10:02 AM. Director of Public Service John Highman was present. Director of Public Safety Andrea Perry was excused. Board Secretary Katie Wise was also present. There were no visitors present. The following items were for review/approval by the Board of Control: 10/4/2021 - Minutes 1. Ordinance 189/2021 Enter into a purchase agreement with the Downton Canton Land Bank (DCLB Corp.) in an amount not to exceed $1,250,000.00 of Issue 13 Comprehensive Plan Funds for the purchase of the Nationwide Building located at 1000 Market Ave. N., Canton, OH 44702. Discussion: No discussion. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced agreement. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 2 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 2. Ordinance 189/2021 Enter into a service agreement with the Canton Community Improvement Corporation (CCIC) utilizing Issue 13 Comprehensive Plan Funds in an amount not to exceed $300,000.00 in order for the CCIC to provide all necessary carrying costs associated with the Nationwide Building. Discussion: No discussion. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced agreement. Director Highman seconded.  Discussion: No discussion. Ordinance 190/2021 Enter into a funding agreement with the Canton Community Improvement Corporation in the amount of $5,000,000.00 for the purpose of making strategic acquisitions of real property, distressed housing and problem commercial properties, and to perform demolition on blighted properties within the Shorb Neighborhood area. Discussion: No discussion. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced agreement. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 2 yeas 0 nays Motion carried.
