BOARD OF CONTROL Meeting Minutes A Board of Control meeting was held Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 9:00 AM in the Mayor’s Conference Room. Board President, Mayor Bernabei called the meeting to order at 9:02 AM. Director of Public Service John Highman and Director of Public Safety Andrea Perry were present. Board Secretary Katie Wise was also present. There were no visitors present. The following items were for review/approval by the Board of Control: 5/3/2022 - Minutes 1. Ordinance 7/2022 Enter into a four-year contract extension with Cintas Corporation for employee uniform rentals utilizing the Omnia Cooperative Purchasing Contract (formerly U.S. Communities) pursuant to ORC 9.48 which exempts said purchase from competitive bidding. Discussion: Mayor Bernabei asked which departments utilize the uniforms. Director Highman and Katie Wise noted that departments such as Water, Building Maintenance, Sanitation, DMV, etc. utilize the uniforms. The laborer employees are the main users of the uniforms. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contract extension. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 2. Ordinance 95/2022 Enter into a one-year Contract Amendment with SAFEbuilt Ohio, LLC in the amount of $196,282.92 for backup Building, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical Inspection Services for the Building Code Department. Discussion: No discussion. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced amendment.  Discussion: No discussion. Ordinance 7/2022 Award and enter into a one-year supply contract (with the option of two (2) additional one-year contract extensions if mutually agreed upon) with Ed Schory & Son Company for the supply of walkway brick pavers for the Engineering Department. Discussion: No discussion. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 4. Ordinance 69/2022 Enter into contract with Hissong Kenworth, Inc. dba Kenworth of Canton in the amount of $110,763.00 for the purchase of One (1) 2023 Kenworth T480 Snow Plow Cab & Chassis for the Street Department pursuant to the Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing Program which exempts said purchase from competitive bidding. Discussion: Director Highman explained that the capital ordinance authorized the purchase of two new plow trucks. However, we are only purchasing one at this time. Kenworth has committed to providing us with one truck now. They are unable to quote a second truck until the 2024 pricing come out. We will have to wait until then to see how we will proceed with the second purchase. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Director Highman seconded.
