BOARD OF CONTROL Meeting Minutes A Board of Control meeting was held Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 9:00 AM in the Mayor’s Conference Room. Board President, Mayor Bernabei called the meeting to order at 9:02 AM. Director of Public Safety Andrea Perry and Director of Public Service John Highman were present. Board Secretary Katie Wise was also present. There were no visitors present. The following items were for review/approval by the Board of Control: 7/26/2022 - Minutes 1. Ordinance 69/2022 Award and enter into a contract with Specialized Construction, Inc. in the amount of $224,456.85 for the 2022 Chip Seal Program, GP 1383. This project was competitively bid and Specialized Construction Inc submitted the only bid received. This project is under the direction of the Engineering Department. Discussion: Mayor Bernabei asked if we have used Specialized Construction in the past. Director Highman said that they completed the Chip and Seal Program for the City last year and that they did a great job. Part of the work that they did last year was on Washington St. and Gibbs Ave. and they have both held up well. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 2. Ordinance 173/2021 & 5/2022 Award and enter into a contract with HM Miller Construction Co. in the amount of $6,170,392.50 for the Allen Avenue SE Area Sanitary Sewer and Waterline Project, G.P. 1332. This project was competitively bid and HM Miller Construction Co. submitted the lowest and best bid from the three bids received. This project is under the direction of the Collection Systems Department. Discussion: Per Director Highman, this is the largest sewer project for the Collection Systems Department since the late 1970’s or early 1980’s.  bid and HM Miller Construction Co. submitted the lowest and best bid from the three bids received.
