SPECIAL BOARD OF CONTROL Meeting Minutes A Special Board of Control meeting was held Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the Mayor’s Conference Room. Board President, Mayor Bernabei called the meeting to order at 1:02 PM. Director of Public Safety Andrea Perry and Director of Public Service John Highman were present. Board Secretary Katie Wise was also present. There were no visitors present. The following items were for review/approval by the Board of Control: 11/1/2022 - Minutes 1. Ordinance 69/2022 Award and enter into contract with Fire Safety Services, Inc. in the amount of $80,460.00 for the purchase of fire turnout gear coats and pants for the Fire Department. Discussion: No discussion. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Director Perry seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 2. Ordinance 7/2022 Enter into a professional services contract with Bricker & Eckler LLP in an amount not to exceed $250,000.00 for legal services related to the lawsuit regarding the construction project at the City of Canton Water Reclamation Facility. Discussion: No discussion. Motion: Director Highman made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Mayor Bernabei seconded.  Motion: Director Highman made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Mayor Bernabei seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 3. Ordinance 7/2022 Enter into five-year contracts each with JT Lawn Care, LLC; NEO Earth Movers, LLC; Johnny O’s, Inc.; Chandler’s Complete Clean, Inc. and Reiss Landscaping, Inc. for Trash, Debris Clean-up, Trimming, Mowing and Removal of Overgrown Landscape Material for Neighborhood Improvement Program (NIP) areas and vacant/deserted areas within the City for the Building Code Department. Discussion: Director Highman indicated that this project was actually approved by Ordinance 197/2022, not 7/2022 as indicated in the original Board of Control notice. Ordinance 197/2022 will be included in the final contract. Mayor Bernabei also added clarification that this work will be paid for utilizing ARPA funds. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contracts. Director Perry seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried.
