SPECIAL BOARD OF CONTROL Meeting Minutes The Special Board of Control meeting was held Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 8:30 AM in the Mayor’s Conference Room. Board President, Mayor Bernabei called the meeting to order at 8:30 AM. Director of Public Service, John Highman and Director of Public Safety, Andrea Perry were present. Board Secretary Katie Wise was also present. There were no visitors present. The following items were for review/approval by the Board of Control: 10/3/2023 - Minutes 1. Ordinance 65/2023 Enter into a contract amendment with the Greater Stark County Urban League for the pilot Reading Readiness Program for low to moderate income youth, to extend the contract expenditure deadline from August 31, 2023 to October 31, 2023 in order to facilitate the final program testing in mid-October. Discussion: No discussion. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced amendment. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 2. Ordinance TBD Ordinance146/2023 Enter into a cooperative agreement with the Board of Education for the Canton City School District for the 4th St. NW Storm and Sanitary Sewer Relocation Project, which is estimated to cost $435,500.00. The City will pay up to $200,000.00 directly to the District as a reimbursement when the project is complete. Ordinance 276/2022 Enter into a supply contract with The Charles Machine Works, Inc. dba HammerHead Trenchless for the purchase of cured-in-place pipe repair kits for the Collection Systems Department. Discussion: No discussion. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced contract. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 4. Ordinance 136/2023 Enter into Change Order No. 1 and Final with CTI Engineers, Inc. in the amount of $31,730.02 for the 4th St. SE Sewer Replacement Project, GP1338 due to modifications from the original scope of work, crossing permit applications and assistance with land acquisitions, resulting in a new contract amount of $204,098.81. Discussion: Mayor Bernabei asked if this was an additional cost to the contract. Director Highman confirmed that it was and this will close out the contract with CTI. Motion: Mayor Bernabei made a motion to approve the above referenced change order. Director Highman seconded. Vote: 3 yeas 0 nays Motion carried.
