BOARD OF CONTROL Meeting Minutes The Board of Control meeting was held Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 8:30 AM in the Mayor’s Conference Room. Board President, Mayor Sherer called the meeting to order at 8:31 AM. Director of Public Safety, Andrea Perry was present. Director of Public Service, John Highman was excused. Board Secretary Katie Wise was also present. There were no visitors present. The following items were for review/approval by the Board of Control: 10/22/2024 - Minutes 1. Ordinance 3/2024 Enter into a service agreement with American Fidelity Assurance Company in order to administer a Flex Spending Account (FSA), Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) for the City of Canton. The FSA and HSA are being administered at no cost to the City. However, the City will have a cost of $4.00 per employee per month for the employees that elect the High Deductible Health Plan in conjunction with the HRA. Discussion: No discussion. Motion: Mayor Sherer made a motion to approve the above referenced agreement. Director Perry seconded. Vote: 2 yeas 0 nays Motion carried. 2. Ordinance 3/2024 Enter into a one-year professional services contract with ComProducts, Inc. dba B&C Communications in the amount of $45,474.00 for the maintenance of the City’s portable/mobile Motorola radios. Discussion: Director Perry stated that this is an annual contract for the maintenance for the portable radios in all City departments. Ordinance 3/2024 Award and enter into a five-year lease, with the option of two (2) five-year renewals, with Briggs Family Farm, LLC for the lease of approximately 23.11 acres of land for farming in Pike Township in the amount of $1,451.00 per year. The lease payments will be made payable to Stark Parks. The property taxes will be made payable to the City of Canton. Discussion: No discussion. Ordinance 181/2024 Enter into a three-year professional services contract with Roger E. Miller in the amount of $57.69 per hour, not to exceed $120,000.00 per year, for the Board of Building Standards Multi-Certified Inspector Services for the Building Code Department. The contract may automatically renew at an increase of 3% of the hourly rate. Discussion: No discussion. Motion: Mayor Sherer made a motion to approve the above referenced contract.
