KIMBERLEY BELL: Oh…again I going to ask that you excuse yourself because we’re both running for Mayor. But if you not, you’re not…ok. Alright I…I…uh 1733 Morris Ave. Canton…um…I asked…a couple of times I wasn’t able to address the issues because I ha… I wasn’t here. But the Canton Police Department…I…my cousin for one, she on Christmas day, the police come to her resident and about…um…a family matter. And…she was arrested. I don’t want to go into details cause it’s still a case being handled by Jason Reese’s office. But…and then, this passed week I called the Police Department to get a officer’s name, and I was…I was told…(inaudiable) the young lady badge…I forget the badge number. Her name was Ashley and she gave me such a hard time. And she said…I guess they know my phone number…she said “Kimberly Bell, who’s running for Mayor.” What does that have to do with me calling asking for some service? See when it starts out small, it becomes into a matter like the 5 officers. It gets bigger and bigger, when you…when you…it’s like a roof. When…when…you…you know it’s a leak on the roof. You seen it…and you seen it was leaking and you kept putting it off and putting it off. Then the whole roof caves in. Same thing with these police officers. They start off small and they’re behavior is…you know, overlooked. And it gets bigger and bigger until they can get away with…with what they can get away with. But she…she was so disrespectful. She hung up on me and then when I called back…she said something, no, I called back and I said, “Let me speak to a sergeant, a lieutenant.” You don’t call here asking for to…to speak lieutenant or sergeant. I was like, you know what little girl get off this phone. I mean they just so disrespectful. I mean they need some…these officers…you know… the need more…more training. If you don’t like your job get another one. But they…I mean…it was...it…like I said my...my cousin was arrested. They…she was out late…she…on….Christmas day and they used, “I’m going to call Child Protective Services,” to come get the kids and it’s two other family members here. I mean you either killing us, you either putting us in jail on false charges, or you threating to take out kids to use Child Protective Services to take our kids. That wasn’t even necessary Office McKenney, badge 161. You didn’t have to say that, putting the kids in fear, standing at the door watching you arrest their mother on Christmas day and then say you’re going to call Child Protective Services to come get the kids. Don’t…don’t threaten us like that. I want to …um…thank God for his grace and mercy and everybody that prayed for me. And I’d like to thank Majority Leader…Smuckler (inaudible) falling into his arms last week. I…I thank you President and our Council. Jill for the Clerk. And…um…for assistance (inaudible). The EMS people, the emergency people, the doctors, the attendants, the Cardio team at Aultman Hospital, it was awesome. Member Smith, Member Scaglione for taking my sister up to the hospital when I had to go…um…Member Ferguson who came to visit me. I thank you for all that. And anyone else…oh yea, Officer Steve, on you’re quick response. And you know what I want to say this, I am really glad that I voted for some of the stuff with the new ambulance (laughs). I am so glad because when I got out of here and I was carried out on the gurney and I got to go to Aultman Hospital were we opened that Cancer Unit and stuff, I’m really happy COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS JOURNAL 111 JOURNAL PAGE 37 MINUTES OF THE MEETING JANUARY 30, 2023 to be a part of this whole team moving city forward, ok. So and I am very happy for the quick response that happened. So…um during that (inaudible) overnight, I am in good shape. I am an Elected Official, I held accountable from my constituents and to let you know that I am very well And I thank you for this Council who helped me continually do what I do. Thank you very much!
