Beach and Surf Safety: Educating the Public re: Beach Safety
▪ Timeframe: Educational Tools Plan should be in place by March meeting
▪ The message re: surf safety and awareness need to be duplicated and re-iterated on various
platforms: videos, brochures, email blast
▪ Create talking points/commercial that cohesively supports our message ie: Each announcement
starts with: “A message from the Cape May Beach Patrol…”
▪ All educational material should be available on CMBP website
▪ Create a system so we can ascertain “measurable effect”.
▪ Send out a weekly message blasts starting in May re: “Beach Safety” through South End Surf Shop,
Stegers, Relators, Hotels, Beach taggers, etc.
▪ $5k requested from city budget for support advertising with a potential additional $5,000 in grants
▪ Approach various media outlets to request they run adds: Herald, radio stations, TV stations
Resolution of Ordinance for Beach Safety sent to all on CMBSC
▪ Will be provided to each person on Committee by 1/24/2022
PA System: “State of Affairs”
▪ Timeframe to Launch and Completion: Looking towards 2023
▪ Lorraine Baldwin: Need to have bids for work.

Beach Slope and Surf Zone Safety
• Chad DeSatnick: Water Resources Development Act
• Update on Jeff Van Drew re: solutions: City Coastal Engineer, ACOE, next steps and time frames
• Update: 2022 Incident Report Fire Department/Beach Patrol’s Injury Report: plan, challenges,
support needed, launch, time to completion
• Possibility of having Dr. Robert Young (collected data for all beach replenished towns ) or ACoE speak
to committee or meet with available members if time constraints.
PA System:
• Review Leo Garrison’s overview.
• Debrief and Discuss presentation by Kasey Rattigan, Director of Convention Hall and Recreation
Activities and Leo Garrison, Senior Designer for Metro Sound Pro’s.
