MINUTES OF THE CENTENNIAL CITY COUNCIL Regular City Council Meeting 6:00 PM Monday, May 11, 2020 A Regular Meeting of the City Council was held virtually in Centennial, Colorado. A full and timely notice of this meeting had been posted and a quorum was present. 1 Call to Order Mayo Piko called the meeting to order at 6:01 PM. 2 Roll Call Those present were: Mayor Piko Council Member Moon Council Member Turley Council Member Sweetland Council Member Maurer Council Member Sutherland Council Member Holt Council Member Alston Council Member Sheehan Those absent were: None Also present were: Matthew Sturgeon, City Manager Elisha Thomas, Deputy City Manager Bob Widner, City Attorney Doug Farmen, Director of Finance Jeff Cadiz, Revenue Manager Allison Wittern, Director of Communications Neil Marciniak, Director of Economic Development Barbara Setterlind, City Clerk Christina Cooney, Deputy City Clerk 3 Pledge of Allegiance Mayor Piko led the Pledge of Allegiance. 4 Public Comment; 6:04 PM Jennifer Hulan, 2101 E Arapahoe Road, made comments on reopening businesses in Colorado. Clayton Circle, made brief comments safer-at-home orders and consistency for businesses. 5 Scheduled Presentations a Economic Update and City Investment Portfolio Report; 6:10 PM Doug Farmen, Director of Finance, Ben Mendenhall, representing Public Trust Advisors, presented. 6 Consideration of Communications, Proclamations and Appointments a PROCLAMATION NO. 2020-P-03 A PROCLAMATION OF THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF CENTENNIAL, COLORADO RECOGNIZING MAY AS FIRST RESPONDERS, HEALTH CARE WORKERS AND NURSES MONTH Mayor Piko read Proclamation No. 2020-P-03 into the record. CONSENT AGENDA Council Member Sutherland moved to Approve CONSENT AGENDA. Council Member Alston seconded the motion. With Mayor Piko, Council Member Moon, Council Member Turley, Council Member Alston, Council Member Maurer, Council Member Sutherland, Council Member Sheehan, Council Member Sweetland, Council Member Holt voting AYE, and (None) voting NAY; Absent: 0. GENERAL BUSINESS 14 Other Matters as May Come Before Council Council Member Maurer asked City Council to reach out to businesses to offer support. Mayor Piko reminded Council that Council Members can always meet with citizens and business owners to hear concerns. Mayor Piko asked for consensus in sending a letter to the Governor supporting creating and informing businesses, including restaurants, guidelines for re-opening during the ongoing pandemic. Mayor Piko announced the Public Works Project Award issued to Centennial for rebalancing Piney Creek Stream Reclamation by SEMSWA. 15 Reports a City Manager; 8:19 PM Matt Sturgeon gave a brief report. c Council Members (None) 16 Mayor's Report and Comments Mayor Piko gave a brief report. 17 Executive Session (None) 18 Adjourn There being no further business to discuss, the Regular Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM. These time limits were established to provide efficiency in the conduct of the meeting and to allow equal opportunity for everyone wishing to speak. An immediate response should not be expected, as issues are typically referred to City staff for follow-up or research and are then reported back to Council and the individual who initiated the comment or inquiry.
