CENTENNIAL CITY COUNCIL
Special Meeting
6:00 PM Tuesday, August 13, 2024
A Special Meeting of the City Council was held on this date in the Eagle Streeet,
Community Room at 13133 E. Arapahoe Road, Centennial, Colorado. A full and timely
notice of this meeting had been posted and a quorum was present.
1 Call to Order
Mayor Piko called the meeting to order at 6:07 PM.
2 Roll Call
Those present were: Council Member Tharp
Council Member Carnes
Council Member Sweetland
Mayor Pro Tem Maurer
Council Member Sutherland
Council Member Holt
Council Member Alston
Council Member Sheehan
Mayor Piko
Also present were: Matt Sturgeon, City Manager
Chris Price, Deputy City Attorney
Elisha Thomas, Deputy City Manager
Eric Eddy, Assistant City Manager

Mayor Piko led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Clifford regarding potential special legislative section (Sturgeon)
Representative Clifford (HD-37) and Meghan MacKillop (Nexus Policy Group) presented
information on a potential special legislative session and were available for questions.

Jeff Dankenbring, Public Works Director introduced the Public Works team and
presentations for the evening.
Ant DeVita, Public Works Program Manager, presented on utility undergrounding.
Patrick Gunn, CIP & Street Rehab Manager, presented on the Bridge Master Plan.
Anna Leonard, Public Works Engineering Manager, presented on the Roadway Design
and Construction Standards Manual.
5 Executive Session; 8:24 PM
a Pursuant to C.R.S. Sections 24-6-402(4)(b) and (4)(e) to receive legal
advice on specific legal questions and to devise negotiation strategy and
instruct negotiators concerning a proposed economic development opportunity
and development of property.
Mayor Piko moved to go into executive session pursuant to C.R.S. Sections 24-6-
402(4)(b) and (4)(e) to receive legal advice on specific legal questions and to devise
negotiation strategy and instruct negotiators concerning a proposed economic
development opportunity and development of property. Council Member Sutherland
seconded the motion.
With Council Member Tharp, Council Member Carnes, Council Member Sweetland,
Mayor Pro Tem Maurer, Council Member Sutherland, Council Member Holt, Council
Member Alston, Council Member Sheehan and Mayor Piko voting AYE; the motion was
approved by a vote of nine (9) AYE and none (0) NAY.
6 Adjourn
Mayor Piko adjourned the meeting at 9:05 PM.
